Designer Notes: Use a dpn a size or two smaller then you normally would for the type of yarn to avoid stuffing showing through. The exact stitch counts aren’t crucial to the end result, simply knit them and continue on. The arms are the Knit Girls afterthought heal technique (which can be found on YouTube or below link if the above doesn‘t work) with 2-3 sts at either side picked up to close the hole that are K2tog the following round after the first knit around.
M1 method, use which ever one you’re comfortable with that doesn’t leave a hole and only makes one sts.

THE HEAD
CO 16sts w/ long tail method leaving enough tail to use to weave in & secure this the top of Gerbert‘s head.
Knit 1 round
Row 1: *K2, KRL; rep from *
Row 2: Knit 3 rounds
Repeat these two rounds till you have 48-50 sts and then Knit 4”
Row 3: *K2tog, K1; rep from *
Row 4: Knit 6 rounds
Row 5: *K4, KRL; rep from *
Row 6: Knit 2 rounds
Row 7: *K3, KRL: rep from *
Row 8: Knit 4 rounds
Row 9: K8, K9 w/ waste yarn, K35 (counting the 9sts), K9 again, knit remaining round.
Row 10: *K6, K2tog; rep from *
Row 11: Knit 3 rounds
Row 12: *K5, K2tog; rep from *
Row 13: Knit 3 rounds
Row 14: *K4, K2tog; rep from *
Row 15: Knit 3 rounds
Row 16: *K3, K2tog; rep from *
Row 17: Knit 3 rounds
Row 18: *K2, K2tog; rep from *
Row 19: Knit 2 rounds

Knit 1 round and cut yarn leaving 2-4” or enough to use to weave in & secure the bottom of a stuffed Gerbert, with a loose strand of white yarn for a mouth knotted at each end on the inside.
ARMS x2
Pick up stitches for the arms, including a possible 3 stitches between the upper and lower depending on your yarn & gauge, to close the hole that are K2tog the following round after the first knit around. Knit 2”

Row 3: *K2, KRL; rep from *
Row 4: Knit 7 rounds
Row 5: *K2tog, K1; rep from *
Row 6: Knit 2 rounds
Row 7: *K2tog, K2; rep from *

Row 9: *K2, K1; rep from *
Row 10: Knit 1 round and cut yarn leaving 2-3” or enough to use to weave close sealing a bit of stuffing inside, knot up and secure any loose ends and you are done! Easy arms - once you get use to the marvel of the afterthought technique.
EARS x2
CO 8sts w/ long tail method leaving enough tail to use to sew ear to the top of Gerbert‘s head.
Knit 2”
Row 1: *K1, KRL; rep from *
Row 2: Knit 2 rounds
Row 3: *K1, KRL; rep from *
Row 4: Knit 2 rounds
Row 5: *K1, KRL; rep from *
Row 6: Knit 6-8 rounds
Row 7: *K4, K2tog; rep from *
Row 8: Knit 2 rounds
Row 9: *K3, K2tog; rep from *
Row 10: Knit 2 rounds
Row 11: *K2, K2tog; rep from *
Row 12: Knit 2 rounds
Row 13: Knit 1 round and cut yarn 2-4” (or what you feel you’ll need) to weave in through remaining stitches. Pulling close only slightly, then make 2-3 small stitches once this edge has been tucked inside, lining up the small holes (the would be ear canal) so you don’t see the small stitches. Sew to head and then go make the second ear.
